Mgr. MILAN SLAVÍK

The Specialist in physiotherapy

Hi there!

Do you have problems with your back? Do you do sport and your joints and muscles hurt? Do you have a sedentary job and suffer from headaches and back pain? Are you after an accident and do you want to get back to your active life as soon as possible? Do you need quick recovery?

Come to us, we will help you from the pain and we will return you to your active life.

My name is Milan Slavík and I am a specialist in physiotherapy. Simply, it means I can help you from back pain and joint pain. These pains very often arise from the overloading of some muscle groups and, on the contrary, from the relaxation of unused muscles. Most of them can be cured with proper physiotherapeutic rehabilitation and regular exercise.

Practice

I studied physiotherapy for a very long time. I have been using my knowledge in practice since 1996. I did part of my practice abroad. I deal with balancing exercises for competitive athletes, but my main focus is providing services to the general public.

Therapy

Acute or chronic pain is an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience with which the organism signals an illness or a threat. Back pain and musculoskeletal pain are among the most common types of pain.

Under the influence of various advertising campaigns, we can easily succumb to the impression that we can win over the pain with the right medication. The opposite is the truth.

We numb the pain with the help of analgesics and other medicines. But the main cause of the pain remains hidden. Then we get into a vicious circle, where the pain is constant and you need more medication to calm the pain.

What progress can I offer you?

After the initial consultation and examination, with regard to your acute or chronic condition, these steps will follow:

Fitness training and balancing exercises for athletes

An aggressive conditional balancing rehabilitation program is designed for competitive athletes, where the doctor, physiotherapist, and trainer work. The program consists of active and passive soft-tissue and conditioning component, which includes stretching of shortened muscle groups and targeted strengthening of slack muscle groups.

Inappropriate rest and inactivity leads to the recurrence of symptoms and their eventual stabilization. As has already been written, teamwork in the axis: doctor - physiotherapist - trainer is very important. Each of the competitive athletes should be surrounded by this team of specialists, because everyone has a different view and position on the given problem of the functional disorder, because the given disorder, pain or illness can only be solved and cured in this way.

As a physiotherapist and fitness trainer, I work with these clubs:

  1. Bulldogs Brno – a floorball club
  2. VK Královo Pole Brno – a volleyball club
  3. Czech Volleyball Association
  4. Volleyball Academy
  5. Czech Association of University Sports
  6. HC Kometa Group

For individuals I create specific condition rehabilitation programs.

Dry needling

Dry needling is a unique specific little-invasive therapy focusing on restitution of dysfunctionalities of soft tissues.

Dysfunction of soft tissues plays an important role in a sensibilation of the central nerve system.

Dry needle trigger point (TrPs) treatment concept

This model is focused on the inactivation (elimination) of trigger points (TrP), requires a perfect knowledge of the anatomy of the musculoskeletal system, topographic distribution of TrP in the muscles and with this tied common symptoms.

TrPs (trigger points) are small stiff nodules in muscles that can be very painful to the touch. They are caused by local muscle tension of small muscle fibers with biochemical changes in the environment. These changes lead to muscle dysfunction and the development of so-called transmitted pains. Transmitted pains can often occur far from the location of the trigger point.

Indication

Dry Needling can be used alone, in an equivalent combination with basic therapy or as an adjunct to basic therapy.

  1. Acute and chronic back pain
  2. Acute shots (lumbago) and functional blockages
  3. Post-traumatic and post-operative pain conditions
  4. Shoulder, hip and knee pain
  5. Abdominal, thoracic and pelvic pain with limited organ impairment
  6. Chronic pelvic pain, coccygeal syndrome
  7. Attachment pains (tennis elbow, golf elbow and others)
  8. Entezopathy, including Achilles tendon involvement
  9. Bursitis
  10. Headaches, including migraine
  11. Tinnitus, vertigo
  12. Heel spurs
  13. Sports injuries of the musculoskeletal system
  14. Rheumatoid muscle syndromes
  15. Today, Dry Needling is gaining more and more ground in sports medicine in the prevention of sports injuries and rehabilitation, post-traumatic conditions and optimization of functional condition to achieve maximum performance.

Difference between acupuncture and dry needling

Although an acupuncture needle is also used in Dry Needling, they are two different therapeutic procedures. Traditional acupuncture is based on Eastern philosophy and needles are applied to acupuncture points.

Dry Needling is based on strictly Western medical principles and research. The needle is inserted into the trigger point in the muscle, or into the homeostatic and symptomatic points. After needle insertion, biochemical changes occur and the pathological pain cycle is interrupted.
